Peer Review Process

The below given flowchart explains the manuscript submission at a glance. Once the manuscript is submitted for publication, it is subjected to screening, quality assessment, reviewing, and

further production processing involving language assessment, figure improvement, preparation of proofs and incorporation of required corrections.

The submitted article will be reviewed initially by the Editor in Chief. The reviewing process will be conducted minimally by 2 reviewers through the double-blind process. The acceptance of submitted article considers the reviewers’suggestion and recommendation. The article will be published after the concluding meeting of the Editorial Board. To screen the plagiarism within the article, Turnitin software are used.

Plagiarism Policy

PLAGIARISM INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO:

  1. refer and/or quoting terms, words and/or sentences, data and/or information from a source without citing sources in the record citation and/or without stating the source adequately;

  2. refer and/or quoting random terms, words and/or sentences, data and/or information from a source without citing a source in the record citation and/or without stating the source adequately;

  3. using a source of ideas, opinions, views, or theory without stating the source adequately;

  4. formulate the words and/or sentences themselves from the source of words and/or phrases, ideas, opinions, views, or theory without stating the source adequately;

  5. submit a scientific papers produced and/or published by others as a source of scientific work without express adequately.

 

PREVENTION

In every article submitted to the Biomedical and Mechanical Journal (BIOMEJ) will be checked by plagiarism software to assure that:

  1. The article is free of plagiarism;

  2. if at a later proved there is plagiarism in the article, the author is willing to accept the sanctions in accordance with the legislation.

SANCTIONS

  1. reprimand;

  2. letter of warning;

  3. revocation of the article;

  4. cancellation of publication.

Author Guidelines

Required files

Manuscripts must be in Microsoft Word format only.

Preparation of Manuscripts

Manuscripts should be in English and written in a concise, straightforward style and use reference manager software with Vancouver numerical system. Authors who are not fluent in English can write in Indonesian. Articles that are written in Indonesian, abstract is required in two languages (Indonesian and English). Authors not fluent in English are advised to have their manuscript checked by a colleague with a good command of the language. The manuscript should present scientific findings which are essentially new and which have not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere. Review papers are also welcomed.

  1. Format:

Prior to submission, authors who believe their manuscript would benefit from professional editing are encouraged to use language-editing and copyediting services. Obtaining this service is the responsibility of the author, and should be done before initial submission. A template (download) is available to guide authors in the preparation of the manuscript.

  1. Length:

Although there is no page limit for a Regular Paper, it is strongly suggested that a complete manuscript be no less than 7 pages and no more than 10 pages. If the paper exceed 10 pages: IDR 100.000 per page / 10 USD per page will be charged.

  1. Sections of Manuscript:

Articles should be organized into the following sections:

Reviews and Mini-reviews - Article Title, Authors’ names and institutional affiliations, Abstract and Keywords, Introduction, Main text (divided into subheadings), Conclusions, Acknowledgements (if any), Statement of Competing Interests, List of Abbreviations (if any), References.

Research Articles - Article Title, Authors’ names and institutional affiliations, Abstract and Keywords, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions, Acknowledgements (if any), Statement of Competing Interests, List of Abbreviations(if any), References.

  1. Submission self-checklist

Before submitting your manuscript online, please check that all style and format requirements have been carefully followed.

  • English spelling and punctuations are used throughout the paper.

  • The paper is original, not submitted anywhere else.

  • The length of the paper is commensurate with content.

  • The title and headings are brief and catchy.

  • Names and affiliations (including postal codes) of all authors are correct and complete.

  • Figures are of sufficient quality for printing, with clear resolution of detail.

  • Abstract and keywords are provided.

  • All table captions and figure legends are provided.

  • Tables/Figures are properly placed and numbered with brief titles/captions.

  • References are in Vancouver numerical system.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).

  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.

  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.

  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.

  5. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

If this paper is accepted for publication, you will not be asked to pay an Article Publication Fee to cover publications costs.

We do not want fees to prevent the publication of worthy work.
